The Science & Psychology behind Quit Acting!
Every Actor remembers that moment when you stopped playing the part and you were just being in the moment. You may have even said you forgot you were acting. But you didn't forget....you Quit Acting!
This means your best work comes when "the actor" disappears.
Ask about specialty techniques for actors with dyslexia, ADHD, stuttering, or other processing challenges!
Every role you will ever play as an actor at its core is a human being. They say it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill. You have been a human being your whole life. This means you mastered the skill of acting when you were 1 year 53 and 2/3rds days old. Some would say that makes you a natural!
The Philosophy behind Quit Acting!
When Michael Angelo was was making the statue of DAVID, he was asked how he knew what to create. And he said, "I didn't create David. I just looked at the stone and chipped away at wasn't him."
ACTING is TRUTH. And TRUTH by it's very definition cannot be created or imagined. And nothing becomes the truth. It is either true or untrue in the moment. The truth can only be revealed. So why would an actor spend all of their time trying to to create or try to become who they imagine the character to be. When you Quit Acting! you simply remove what is not true and what is revealed is YOU simply being in the moment.
“Only those who think different can
truly make a difference.”
-Albert Einstein
Actors & Dyslexia
Nobody see’s thinks, or perceives the world in the same way. Nobody. Whether someone is diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, Sensory Perception Disorder and/or dyslexia, labeled right brained, left brained, or whole brained dominant, visual, kinesthetic or audio, or as an INDIGO or Chrystal child, it’s important to understand that one size does not and need not fit all, especially in the creative world of acting.
And all the “label” means is that you think, process, or communicate to some degree or another different than others. Which BTW makes you better equipped as an actor. No offense boring “normals.” As someone who also deals with dyslexia and other learning challenges, Laura tailors individual acting techniques and processes to your unique learning style.
Tom Cruise, Robin Williams, Keira Knightly, Robert Downey Jr, didn’t listen when told they could not be actors because of their learning challenges. And neither should you!
